DS Galerie is pleased to announce “Quiero hacer contigo lo que hace la primavera con los cerezos”, the first solo exhibition in France by Swiss artist Augusta Lardy Micheli. The exhibition is accompanied by a text written by Federica Chiocchetti, director of the Musée des Beaux-Arts du Locle (MBAL) and presents the artist’s most recent works.
Augusta Lardy Micheli (1994, Switzerland) graduated from the City and Guilds of London Art School in 2021, before being awarded the Freelands Foundation Painting Prize in London. The artist explores the notion of the Sublime, and in particular how it has evolved from the 18th century to the nowadays anthropocenic era. She examines how traditional romantic depictions of Alpine landscapes present pristine landscapes that are now the setting for a decaying ecosystem: glaciers are melting, dams are receding, rocks are breaking. As we observe these landscapes altered by man’s geological impact on the Earth, the force of the traditional sublime is transformed into a soft terror, an environmental Angst. More info
