“Il y a la coagulation au froid, mais aucune dans la prudence.”
(There is coagulation in the cold, but none in caution.)
Gertrude Stein, Tender Buttons
DS Galerie is pleased to invite the artist Margaux Meyer to take over the Salon space, immersing visitors between heat and cold through a group of new paintings in which the turbulence of the gesture surfaces. Here, the pictorial surface becomes a site of tension, where brushstrokes do not merely apply color but seem to inscribe an energy—almost a sense of urgency.
Margaux Meyer’s proposal unfolds in two phases—two chambers—like an initiatory journey, a sensory passage that engages the body as much as the gaze, a descent beyond the flesh, where sensation takes precedence over form.
First, coldness—Bénitier—as an initial stage of the ritual, welcomes and invites, establishing a distance, an almost sacred restraint.
Then, humidity—the realm of transforming matter, of things decomposing in a pictorial ballet of boiling gestures—Peaches (Decomposed), Patatutopia, Lukewarm—at times sharper, almost incisive—Canine.
From cold to warm, or from warm to cold, in a constant back-and-forth, Margaux Meyer’s painting asserts itself as a visceral practice, traversed by sensations and internal pulsations. A painting from within, where gestures seem to emerge from what stirs, contracts, and transforms inside.

Margaux Meyer is an artist born in 1998 in Suresnes (FR), who lives in Paris and works in Aubervilliers. She graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2022).
Margaux Meyer’s works can be described as photographic snapshots in which only color reacts—where the camera aperture is opened so wide that it deliberately allows most of the image’s information to be “burned” by light. In these painterly “images,” devoid of any graphic boundaries, everything emerges through degrees of chromatic modulation—sometimes open and hyper-saturated, sometimes dark and shadowy—within which lies the full mystery of desire, of a romantic relationship, of simple surrender, of a body or a flower.
