Margaux Meyer is an artist born in 1998 in Suresnes (fr) who lives in Paris and works in Aubervilliers. She graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2022). Margaux Meyer’s works could be defined as photographic snapshots where only the colour reacts, where the diaphragm of the lens is so open that it consciously allows most of the image data to be “burnt” by the light; in these pictorial “shots” devoid of any graphic boundaries, everything happens only thanks to these degrees of chromatic modulation, sometimes open and hyper- saturated, sometimes dark and gloomy, in which all the mystery of desire, of a romantic relationship, of a simple abandonment, of a body or of a flower lives on. The artist’s register moves swiftly between the definition of a well-defined portrayal and a management of the image so rarefied as to verge on pure abstractionism; a characteristic very frequent in her recent still lifes - usually dedicated to the Iris, a flower of great aesthetic complexity and strong olfactory seduction - in which she condenses an approach between study and intuition, between mastery and loss, where the solids of the subjects are defined by the tumult of a few watery brushstrokes and the voids vibrate with the punctiform asperities of the canvas left exposed.
