For its first participation at Loop Barcelona, DS Galerie is pleased to present “Participant”, 2021, by Colombian artist Andrés Barón (b. 1986, Colombia).
“Participant” is a sonic journey set against the backdrop of a blue athletics field in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. A young man performs various actions: he reads a painted newspaper, jumps on one foot on one foot, looks through an eye drawn on a ping-pong ball and walks around with a bouquet. The athletics field, which serves as both a physical terrain for movement and a platform for public speech is gradually transformed into a space for contemplation, inner dialogue and otherness.
