An architect by training and co-founder of the Freaks agency, Guillaume Aubry is also a visual artist, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Paris, and a researcher in visual art. In 2022 he defended his doctoral thesis Courser le soleil (Radian programme), which looks at the aesthetic experience of sunsets as a spectacle (of the end) of the world that is repeated daily. His visual work questions our shared and intimate relationship with landscapes. He has had the opportunity to develop this research during a number of residencies in France and abroad, including at the NID National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad, India), LaSalle School of arts (Singapore), Triangle- Astérides (Marseille), la Box (Bourges), le Casino (Luxembourg), ACSL (Yerevan, (Armenia), NES (Iceland), Plateform (Finland), Villa Médicis (Médicis programme), A l’Oeuvre de Lafayette Anticipations (Paris), Finis terrae (Ouessant Island) and most recently in Tierra del Fuego (Patagonia), with the support of Cnap, on “tourism at the end of the world”.
