Works and lives
Bâle (CH)
Trained as an architect and educated in art in Zurich, Renée Levi has been teaching at the Basel School of Fine Arts since 2001. Her work focuses on the perception of space, using a wild painting style that references both urban graffiti and art history. She has exhibited in Switzerland (at MAMCO in Geneva, Langmatt Museum in Baden, Kunsthalle Palazzo in Liestal, etc.), in France, and internationally in solo and group exhibitions. Notably, she participated in a monumental installation at the last Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2019 at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Levi has received numerous awards, including the 2019 Society of Arts Prize, for which she exhibited at the Palais de l’Athénée in Geneva. She has created permanent interventions in various public and private spaces, mainly in Switzerland. Several monographic catalogs have been dedicated to her work, the latest being MMXX, following her exhibition at the Museum of Art, History, and Archeology in Evreux in 2020. She is represented by the Bernard Jordan Gallery in Paris.
