“Noir Métal furnishes the exhibitions of others. Founded in 2020 by the French designers Nicolas Bourthoumieux and Julien Dumond, born in 1985 and 1996 respectively, the company is based at the Brasseries Atlas in Brussels. The two partners met at La Cambre, where the latter was a student of the former. They are engaged in a metalworking practice producing unique pieces in the service of display—whether as supports, frames, plinths, or lighting elements. Following a dynamic close to what is known as travail en perruque, their means and forms derive from revalorized residual materials, operating at the intersection of craftsmanship, design, sculpture, and scenography.”
