Maude Maris
Works and lives
Malakoff et Normandie, France
For ten years, Maude Maris has followed a pre-painting process of casting and photographically staging small gleaned objects, in an attempt to classify the world in a fluid, shifting way. After having explored mineral kingdoms, her work continues today with a greater emphasis on the living. Her main subjects are animal and vegetal presences, a community of beings to which we belong. Her vibrant paintings express the density of moments and places with tender gravity.
Her solo exhibitions include venues such as Galerie Praz-Delavallade in Paris, the Musée des Beaux arts in Rennes with 40mcube, Pi Artworks in London and Istanbul, l’Art dans les chapelles. She has exhibited collectively abroad (La Verrière Hermès in Brussels, Cimili Hamam in Istanbul, Art Basel Hong-Kong…) and in France (Musée d’Orsay, Musée des Beaux-arts de Dole, MAMC Saint-Etienne, IAC Villeurbanne, Musée d’art contemporain de Rochechouart…).
The Musée des Impressionnismes de Giverny recently acquired a large painting, “La Berge”, and her works are also present in the collections of the Frac Auvergne and Normandie, the Musée des Beaux-arts de Rennes, and several foundations (Colas, Bredin-Prat, Emerige, Bel, Paris Collections…)
After a DNSEP at Esam Caen in 2003, she completed a post-graduate course at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2010, with sculptors and architects.
She is currently working on a commission for the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie in Aubusson.
