Margot Pietri is an artist born in 1990 in Drancy (fr), who lives and works in Aubervilliers. She graduated from the École des Beaux Arts de Lyon (2014). Margot Pietri develops a work of writing, of science fiction narratives which is articulated with a practice of sculpture to explore the way in which technique and technologies influence our beliefs, modify our relationship to time, our interactions and our emotions. From this quest, pieces are born that mix sculpture and painting to consider the obsolescence of technology in a world that could be contemporary to ours, like measuring tools whose function is altered. The signs visible in the sculptures, emojis or special characters, testify to the emergence of a new form of language that allows for the conveyance of standardised emotions. Together, the pieces are assembled to create artificial landscapes, immobilised between an unassimilated past and an uncertain future. Margot Pietri was nominated for Jeune Création (2017) and Révélations Émerige (2019). In 2020, the Musée de la céramique in Lezoux (fr) will host her solo show as part of the Galeries Nomades with the Institut d’Art Contemporain in Villeurbanne, and in 2023 she will present “serrer”, a new solo show at the Serre in Saint-Étienne (fr). The same year, she was part of “La rencontre des eaux”, a duo show with Jot Fau at DS Galerie.
