Graduated from the Beaux-Arts of Cergy, FR in 2021, Amélie Bigard develops an artistic practice that takes shape mainly with painting, but also with video and installation. In parallel to her studies at the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille in 2018, she is training as an icon painter at the Church of the Dormition with an iconographer. She then spent a year in Berlin as an assistant to the painter Helen Verhoeven before continuing her studies at the Beaux-Arts of Paris-Cergy, FR. Borrowing from the art of the icon the technique of tempera on wood, the use of gold leaf or the quasi-religious postures of her subjects, she presents «icons of a godless world», which seem to find refuge in the meeting and the game. In 2022, she presented her first solo exhibition at the Consulat Voltaire in Paris and a second solo exhibition at the Studiolo gallery in Milan. She also exhibited at Chapelle 14 gallery and at Le Palais des Beaux-Arts in Paris, at the Espace à vendre gallery in Nice, at the Tatiss gallery in Lyon for the 16th edition of the Biennale and at the Sapling gallery in London. She was in residence at Maison Artagon (2022), at the Consulat Voltaire (2022), at La Folie Barbizon (2022) as well as at l’Orfèvrerie (2021) and will carry out a residency in 2023 at Therapeia Art Residency in Greece. In 2021, she is one of the two winners of the Artagon scholarship in partnership with Adam & Lavrut. In 2023, she presented “Playground Love” a duo show with Renaud Artaban in Le Salon at DS Galerie. That same year, Amélie Bigard won the ADIAF Émergence 2023 Prize and was a finalist in the Prix des Amis du Palais de Tokyo.
