Alejandro Villabona
Works and lives
Paris (FR), Frankfurt (DE)
After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, Alejandro Villabona joined Judith Hopf’s class at the Städelschule in Frankfurt in 2022. His work often establishes intersections between multiple disciplines, using video, sculpture, drawing, and text. Consciously drawing inspiration from various industries and production strategies, his work essentially involves creating gaps between these techniques and the traditions we conventionally associate with them. In doing so, he aims to frame and confront our relationships with language, value, and usage.
His work has been presented notably at Kunsthalle Bethanien in Berlin, DE; London Performance Studios, GB; in France at Doc! Paris, FR; at the Centre d’art contemporain Chanot in Clamart, FR; at the Deutsches Filminstitut in Frankfurt am Main, DE, among others.
